Steady power demand
According to a recent UPME report, power demand in 2025 is expected to reach around 100TWh in an average scenario, up from this years demand forecast of 65.7TWh.
Though hydro power as a total of the energy mix is about 65%, coal and gas fired plants are rarely used in an average year and generally account for about 15% of total power generation at any given time.
LNG plant planned
The regassification plant will bring a reduction in costs related to gas restrictions of US$900 million, deputy energy minister Orlando Cabrales said at the Naturgas 2014 conference in Cartagena.
